The purpose of the City of Burnaby Archives is to identify, acquire, preserve and make accessible archival material in the form of civic and private records documenting the history of the City of Burnaby.
Records include a variety of sources including documents, photographs and maps. The storage area can accommodate 900 lineal meters of material and is equipped with sophisticated environmental controls necessary to preserve archival items.

In 2007, the City of Burnaby Archive expanded its collection mandate to include private as well as public records. On February 14, 2007, an agreement was signed with the Burnaby Historical Society to accept the collection of community records that had been maintained and managed by the Historical Society since the 1950s. That Spring, the records were transferred from the Burnaby Village Museum to their permanent home in the Archives.

Public reference services are available from Wednesday to Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm or by appointment.
